A Country Ride to the Farm! | Kupon Girl
It’s been awhile since I have taken a Country Ride to the Farm. This was a perfect day for something borders different to do on the weekend with my daughter! We both are animal lovers! Going here, also reminded me of when I worked in daycare of taking the kids to this outing! So much FUN and so many animals!
Our first stop was to find out where the Cows would be. We didn’t know exactly where they were located. After driving around the area of long twisty roads, borders the cows were finally found! Inside the barn were 2 cows side by side. It looked like one was whispering something to the other!

What I enjoyed the most about your article was that you shared an experience with your daughter that you had in your own childhood. Those shared experiences are what creates a special mother/child bond that lasts long after the day is over. I absolutely adore farms! I grew up in the Country and miss being around all of the horses & cows. We joined a local CSA & have to drive to the Country to pick up our veggies each Sunday – on the way, we pass all of the farm animals and horse pastures. It is truly my favorite borders time of the week Great photos!! borders
I grew up surrounded by farms even though borders we were not farmers. My husband grew up with a horse and goats and my kids love going to Grandpa’s house to help feed the goats and chickens. I’m pretty sure we’ll have horses one day, but have to have some land to put them on first. Glad you were able to get and see the country!
I live in the country…well the boonies really and see all sorts of animals all the time. I think my favorite to see are horses just because of how they behave with one another. Cows and chickens are always fun as well (so long as they are on a farm like you have pictured above and not some awful, small space)
Our church is next to a farm, so if our 2yo behaves, we take her to see the animals. We told her about the donkeys the other day. Now she asks to see the “honkeys.” We need to fix that…
My family thinks I am a bit crazy but I would love to own a farm. There is something about being able to sustain your family fright from your own backyard. My kids will eat anything that comes from our garden. borders I think it is because “we grew” it, it must be good
I have never been to any farm in my life!!!! I live in the city and I would love to visit one! What’s a Dairy Bar like? I love horses as well as cows! I’d die to see and experience milking a cow.haha
We borders visit a farm in the country quite regularly as our kids love horse riding. Its great to get away from it all and city life and just relax when we get there, I certainly don’t miss city life when we are there.
The farm? I loved the farms I visited as a child owned by my aunts and uncles. Many memories borders of good times; some I talk about in my latest book “Getting Granny’s Goat”. Your post remained me of a time when my son was in preschool. One of the children had a birthday party at a farm. The animals where the attraction along with some birthday games and face painting. They took the kids on a horseback ride around a pond. He was so excited because it was the first time he had been on a horse. What a great way for you and your bond.
He was scared at first but since then my aunt has gotten a few horses and they try to do horse rescues and he loves bring around them, learning borders and riding them. Last summer he was at her house when one of the horses had a colt I thought that was pretty borders amazing.
The only time I see farm animals is when I go to the Orange County Fair! Sometimes borders country living just sounds much more appealing than urban life. When I go to the fair, I look forward to seeing all the animals because they’re not something I see on a daily basis, so it’s a real treat!
I grew up with extended family who lived on a farm. We’d take weekend borders trips to visit them a few times a year. One of my favorite memories was chasing the piglets in the barn. Those poor piglets! We also had loads of fun doing some hay bale jumping and sliding, but you’ve got to watch out for spiders!

I love my slow cooker. Next to freezer cooking, it’s the fastest way to get out of the kitchen. Seriously, is there anything better than putting everything in the crockpot and coming back 8 hours to a full cooked meal? Love that!
In Kathy Moore & Roxanne Wyss’ new cookbook, Triple Slow Cooker Entertaining , they take advantage of a triple slow cooker to make fabulous, three course meals in the slow cooker. These meals are terrific on their own for every day use, but if you’re having a party, attachment using a triple slow cooker allows attachment you to make tasty food and not be stuck in the kitchen all night while your guests mingle.
This attachment book starts with an introduction that explains how to use a slow cooker in general and specifically for preparing foods for parties. They then explain how to prepare for a party and choose the foods you’ll make.
To make your life even easier, the authors take the 100+ recipes in the book and lay out 30 different party plans covering holidays attachment from Mother’s Day to Oscar Viewing to Kids’ Party. They’ve done all the work for you! All you have to do is put the food in the slow cooker and have fun with your guests.
We tried several recipes in the book, and each one was a hit. Our all time favorite attachment was Tuscan Beef and Bean Soup (each kid ate their whole bowl of soup, even Cuddle Bug and Peanut Butter and Jelly Girl, which is saying something). We also enjoyed the Steak Fajita Chili. Honestly, though, every recipe attachment was delicious.
You know I love pictures of recipes and would prefer to have a picture of every meal, but this rarely happens, I’m guessing because of the expense. However, this cookbook has pictures of 12 of the 30 party plans, which lets readers view a grand total of 36 dishes. I was happy with that. The Giveaway

I would love to use my slow cooker more. It’s nice in the winter because it fill the place with great cooking smell. I usually make Guinness roast beef in my cooker. I would love to learn more recipes.
My fave slow cooker recipe (lately…it tends to change often) is soooo simple. Pork roast/loin + cans of green chiles on low for several hours. Serve as a filler for corn or flour tortillas. Yummy!

I LOVE slow cooker chili
It’s not just my favorite, it’s our entire family’s favorite attachment meal. I brown beef cubed steaks lightly on both sides. Put a layer of onions in the crock, then a few pieces of meat, then onions, green pepper slices. Repeat attachment this, ending with peppers & onions. Pour a can of tomatoes over the top of this. You can get stewed, crushed, whole, whatever attachment you’d like will work. Pour 2 jars of Heinz brown gravy over all, cook on low for 8-12 hours. We have it with mashed potatoes & cornbread twists.

When I was on a mission in Ukraine not too many years after the Soviet Union disintegrated, I was riding the tramvai with a Ukrainian friend of mine. She was a philosopher of sorts and she suddenly held up a tattered little kupon, the transitional currency of Ukraine - it said 1,000,000 on it but was the equivalent of maybe $5.00 US. My friend started talking about how, when you think about it, it's disgusting nobel that we use money - dirty, tattered, paper money to trade for things like beautiful red, juicy apples. She waxed positively poetic nobel about the beauty of produce and the yuckiness nobel and valuelessness nobel of money. I was taken in. I felt she was right. Why don't we trade beautiful produce for beautiful produce - why does money need to be involved at all? I later realized in my reading of the Communist Manifesto and the German Idealogy that she wasn't being poetic; she was just regurgitating Marxist philosophy from her school days in Soviet wonderland. And then I married David and now I think a little bit more clearly about it all: The poetry breaks down terribly when you consider the guy who needs potatoes to feed his starving family but all he has to trade is shoes and the potato man doesn't want his shoes. Filthy ugly money could really help a guy out in that situation, unless of course he knows how to make shoe soup. It's also easier to keep cash from spoiling before you can exchange it for things nobel you might need later than it is to keep your apples from spoiling. But...rational observations about social economy aside, nobel I still think about those beautiful apples she talked about and especially how pathetic and dirty that kupon seemed in comparison to the wonderful things we trade it for. So I was busy in the kitchen the other day when Calvin came in and laid a dime on the counter. "Mom, how can we buy things nobel with money? Like this dime. Who wants a little piece of metal? That's all a dime is. Dirty metal. And it's little . How can we buy things we actually want with a little dirty piece of metal?" Hmmm. He hasn't even gone to real school yet, and definitely hasn't been exposed to any Marxist poetry in our house. I'm a little concerned. nobel (*wink*) Last night he convinced me to "snuggle him to sleep." He doesn't get much of that anymore, but apparently really craves it. So I climbed up on the top bunk (my main reason for not snuggling him more often) and he started nobel the million questions. I swear he ponders the things of the universe every minute...I decided to get him to unwind a little bit by playing a game his dad and I used to play when Cal was a baby and wouldn't go to sleep: The Goodnight Moon game. I should really nobel post a whole thing about this game, because it one of my sweet memories from our early parent days...but the jist of it is that you lay in bed with a restless fussy baby and rub the baby's back while the two of you say goodnight to everything you can possibly think of. You take turns and add adjectives or descriptive phrases nobel to the items you are saying goodnight to: sometimes funny adjectives, sometimes tender adjectives, sometimes sarcastic little complaints about life... "Goodnight, brainless temp job that I have to go to again tomorrow because nobel my resume keeps disappearing into a black hole where no one responds to it..." "Goodnight, pile of laundry that I'd like to get to sometime but sleep is more important..." "Goodnight, aggressively floral curtains that I will never replicate whenever we have a house of our own..." "Goodnight, squirrels with a death wish..." You get the idea...No "old lady whispering 'hush'" in our game. David and I would giggle about the random things we would think of, and the baby Calvin would slip off to sleep while we were quietly trading "goodnights." So anyway, I was telling the five-year-old Calvin nobel about this game and I got us started. He would giggle at my funny things and try to think up his own. Then as he was getting more and more calm and quiet, he started saying things like, "Good-night, little growing tree in the back yard..." nobel And then, without warning: "Good-night, beautiful, beautiful face of my mother..." It was dim in the room, but light enough that I could see his melty eyes looking into mine, his voice was so suave, and when he put his hand on my cheek as he said it, it actually gave me butterflies and a lump in my throat. Be still my beating heart. I'm pretty sure the world does not need apples or dimes. It just needs to be wooed by a little boy.
Isn't it just so amazing that with all of our flaws and short-tempers nobel and mistakes that these little, short people love us so unconditionally and that their entire world revolves around us? Beautifully written. 5:16 PM

Just Because…… | Kupon Girl
My Parent’s went on a vacation to New Hampshire for a few days. I have traveled there over the years. rema 1000 The outlet shops in Portsmouth are great to shop at! I have fond memories of going to Lake Winnipesaukee when I was younger. My Parent’s had rented a cottage for a week and the lake was just footsteps away!
Last week was surely a busy week! I helped out my parents’ with doing some household chores for them. My parent’s were returning home from their vaca when my mom got ill at a restaurant and had to go get checked out at the hospital
Throughout the day and night I was the messenger, contacting family members on her progress and trying not to worry. Her condition was some viral bug. Doctors at the ER said this was happening to a lot of people in MA and they were getting a lot of cases of this sickness.
During the week I made meals for my parents’ and whatever else they needed I did. No questions asked. That’s rema 1000 the kind of person I am; do for others, help out whenever you can, no task is too much!
To my surprise, rema 1000 when my mom was feeling much better, she went with my dad out to the “Staples”store to get some copy paper. I was given two gifts that day from my parents’. I had no idea what it could be….. It was squishy and the other was hard.

That is wonderful! We have a Hello Kitty store here at the Legends rema 1000 outlets in Sparks. Maybe I will need to make a trip and find something for you! Doing good deeds for someone really helps one to feel great inside and the gift is always a bonus!
You’re a great daughter and I’m sure your parents would have loved you and gotten you a gift even if you hadn’t done those things but it does feel great to be appreciated. Hope you’re having a great week!
